YESTERDAY (AND FURTHER BACK)
Starbucks is evil. I used to have an entire speech regarding exactly why Starbucks is evil. It had something to do with homoginization of America and certain Starbucks actions that took place following 9/11. Then, my friend M introduced me to the joy of peppermint hot chocolate. After that, I sold my soul to the dark side and abandoned my ideals. I even own a Starbucks credit card that earns me free hot chocolate.
Like the sweet temptress she is, Starbucks has introduced a new wonderfully delicious, yet horrible for you (despite the fact that it is billed as reduced fat) treat. It is the reduced fat banana coffee cake with chocolate chips. Ok, I'm not completely daft. Anything chocked full of chocolate chips is not going to be too good for you. But it was good, so good. The perfect balance of banana and chocolate. So, it was with dread that I looked up the nutritional information. Can you guess? Give yourself a pat on the back if you had 470 calories, 15 grams of fat and 1 gram of dietary fiber. For those who are familiar with Weight Watchers, that comes to 10 points. Hopefully, this will put some perspective on today's daily suggestion.
DAILY SUGGESTION
Stay away from the Starbucks Reduced Fat Banana Coffee Cake with Chocolate Chips.
WHAT'S NEW
I've updated the reading section with my review of Cold Mountain. I've also finished the reformatting of the recipe pages and added more desserts to the recipes area.
