While JK was visiting, we decided to do something we've always talked about and have a Lord of the Rings marathon. Sunday, we watched the first two installments and yesterday, we finished up with Return of the King. Yes, this was a weekend of unforgivable sloth, but it was fun, relaxing and the movies are just as good as they were the first time.
Now that I've booked my ticket, it seems official, so I can share the details of the mystery trip I mentioned last week. My SIL and I will be meeting up with my college friends JS and HJ and their respective others for a weekend in New York City! I haven't been to NYC since 1998, so I'm really looking forward to going back.
JR is back to class today. This semester will be quite different from past ones, since he only has one actual class. He will be very busy preparing for the competition in March, but after that point, his schoolwork should be minimal. Don't think that means he's going to have any free time! He's still going to be working two jobs and serving on the board of the Consumer Law Journal, plus possibly squeezing in some early studying for the bar, so it will be business as usual around here.
I wanted to share the good news that JR received his last grade last week. He earned a 3.3 (or close to) last semester, so his cumulative GPA is officially bumped over a 3.0! In case you haven't been keeping track of JR's law school goals, here they are:
- Get a job w/Westlaw - goal complete!
- Get a clerkship - goal complete!
- Be on staff for a law journal - goal complete!
- Be on the board of a law journal - goal complete!
- Participate in a moot court team - goal to be complete in March!
- Raise GPA to 3.0 - goal complete!
- Have an article published in a law journal
- Pass the bar
- Get a permanent job
I read an article that said one of the annoying things about married women is when they praise their husband's accomplishments as though their little children. Well, tough cookies. JR has worked really hard, sometimes working two jobs while also doing almost everything he's set out to do, so I'm going to toot his horn a bit and you're just going to have to suffer through it ;)

You picked a good one Ange. BTW, love the title of the post.
THIS IS THE STUFF THAT BRINGS A HUSBAND HOME AT NIGHT AND GIVES HIM THE FORTITUDE TO PUT ON THE HARNESS IN THE MORNING!
