Today is JR's birthday, so don't forget to email him some happy birthday wishes. Since we had his party this past weekend, we're going to keep it pretty low key tonight. He's going to stop to pick up the new Veruca Salt album and the second season of the Office (the out takes for this series are just as funny as what they put on the air). I'm going to make Baked Lemon Chicken with Mushroom sauce, which is one of his favorites and then we'll have a little cake. Literally. I plan to pick up a mini bundt cake from Corner Bakery, so we don't overdo it.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
I attended a meeting in the board office today, and on my way back to my desk, I stopped in the restroom. It has an amenity not available in the bathroom on my floor - a scale. It was one of those doctor office types with the little weights that you have to move back and forth for 10 minutes in order to get it to balance. Is this a message from the administration that the women on that floor are too fat? Or, are the women so obsessed with their weight that they feel the need to weigh themselves, while at work?
A few days ago, I saw a commercial for TGI Friday's new line of appetizers. Included in the new selection are fried mac n' cheese (they finally found a way to pack more fat into this dish, yeah!) and fried green beans (Question: Is it better to eat a fried veg or no veg at all?) In an age when people are becoming aware of how oversize restaurant portions are and how loaded they are with calories & fat, why would TGI Friday's be introducing this type of food? Am I wrong about the rising American awareness of the dangers of restaurant food? Or, is TGI Friday's catering to a faction that's so violently opposed to good nutrition that they need to have their mac n' cheese fried?

I'm pretty sure CIGNA had a scale in the lunch room. How's that for pressure?
My stomach did a little dance at the mention of fried mac & cheese. At first I thought it was a happy dance, but it wasn't. Not by a long shot.
Hey at least you don't have to get "weighed- in" every week and then have that number e-mailed to the head office. But, then who ever said i had a normal job.
