I had an excellent long weekend in C-Bus.
THURSDAY
Took a walk with Mom. Met Kara and Baby Cameron for lunch at Subway. He's quite a cutie and she seems to be very content in the role of mother. Went with Mom to Verizon to get a new cell phone, since she broke her old one (too much talking long distance to Chicago? Thank goodness that both JR and I are "in".) Stopped at TJ Maxx and Target. Managed to purchase only a camel knee length corduroy skirt, raspberry top and cranberry sweater. Picked up by Lee to have dinner with Jean and him at Bon Vie at Easton. Feasted on chicken crapes and pommes frites. Topped it off with Graeters double chocolate ice cream (good, but I still prefer coconut chip).
FRIDAY
Cleaned out the closet of my old room and got rid of almost everything (I'm in declutter mode!) Split an order of Almond Boneless Chicken at Golden China. Could have fed two additional people off of the same order (can one person eat four chicken breasts?) Dropped off a carload of stuff at Goodwill. Took another walk. Drove out to Lynd's fruit farm, even though it was too drizzly to pick apples. Almost got lost as we were accidentally headed towards the pumpkin-buying place and not the apple orchard. Bought a peck of honey crisps. Went by Mom's office and met her new co-worker. JK picked me up and we went to have dinner with AS & GS. Discovered belatedly that JK is allergic to cats! Ate a wonderful vegetable laden meal of minestrone soup, ravioli with green beans and squash and non-molten molten chocolate cakes. Learned a new card game. Practiced giving dirty looks to others when they thwarted my plays.
SATURDAY
Shopping extravaganza at Kohl's! Cannot recount purchases here due to shame of overspending. Vacuumed Mom's car and ran the weed eater, as she raced to mow the lawn before the rain started again. Almost got stabbed in my non-bionic eye when a piece of mulch flew at my face. (Can you tell that I have little yard work experience? Blame my grass allergy.) Ate lunch of salmon patties and learned they are far superior in taste when made with red salmon. Plus, no vertebrae! Definitely worth the higher price. Took a nap then went over to Dad & Randee's. Had lots of tasty treats including cocktail shrimp (from SC), Mexican dip, turkey brats and funfetti cupcakes. Spent some time playing with my nephew, H, who is an adorable and happy little boy.
SUNDAY
Took one last walk and rewarded ourselves with pumpkin muffies (muffin tops) at Panera. Barely managed to get suitcase zipped (see: shopping extravaganza, above). JK arrived just in time to be recruited to drill a new hole in Mom's license plate. Debated between Chipotle and Donato's for lunch, but settled on Donato's, since it's not available in Chi-Town. Saw JK's new apartment, which is great! Walked around Target and managed to buy one last thing. Had an uneventful flight home but an excruciating wait at the baggage claim. Finally spotted my bag on the next baggage carousel over. Stopped at grocery store with JR on the way home. Unloaded, unpacked and collapsed.
