Last night, JR and I had dinner with our friends HD & JM, who we haven't seen in quite awhile. We had a wonderful meal at a restaurant called Sola, which is in our new neighborhood. Although the food was a bit pricey, I highly recommend the restaurant, which has a soothing ambiance and tasty flavor combinations.

HD & JM shared stories from their recent trips to Mexico and Hawaii. JM mentioned eating lychees, which inspired me to tell the following little story, which JR thought would be good for the blog:

A few years ago, AS, KD and I took a trip to San Francisco. During a day of exploring, we decided to have lunch in Chinatown. After we finished our entrees, AS decided to order a dessert: lychees on ice. At that point, I had never heard of a lychee before and didn't know what to expect. When it came out, the dish was true to its name: the restaurant had taken a tray of ice cubes and emptied them onto a plate (the cubes were still connected) and dumped a can of lychees on top. It was probably the tackiest food presentation I've ever seen, but the lychees were tasty, so the dish was slightly redeemed.

I also had the pleasure of going to the DMV to complete the paperwork for the Taurus yesterday. It actually turned out to be quite a bit easier than I anticipated - I was in and out within half an hour. The car is officially ours. Now, I just need to track down a City of Chicago parking sticker, before we can put the new tags on. For some reason, they no longer sell these at the DMV. The fail to understand the logic of this change, but so be it.

DAILY SUGGESTION

Try Crystal Light on the Go. It's a little packet that you add to a bottle of water, shake and voila! My favorite is the peach tea. Props to BK for introducing me to this wonder.
