9-6-06

It's been a few days since my last entry and so much has happened, that I hardley know where to start. I guess I'll just tackle this in a chronological order, and we'll see where that gets us.

9-1-06

JR and I flew to Columbus after work. Overall, the trip was pretty uneventful except for the fact that I got a little tipsy during dinner at the airport. JK picked us up at the airport and we crashed on his sofa bed, which is the most comfortable that I've ever slept on.

We had lunch with JG and LG at Donatos. What a treat to eat at Donatos! Yes, we have lots of great pizza here in Chicago, but Donato's (and Papa John's) will always hold a special place in my heart (stomach?) for its unique taste. Of course, the only thing that makes good food better is good company. We had fun catching up with JG and LG.

After lunch, we picked up our new (to us) Ford Taurus. I think we need to name it, so if you have any suggestions, please post them in the comments. If details will help, I can tell you that the car is a blueish-purpleish shade, has 128,000 miles and seems to run just fine despite being in its twilight years.

We drove up to Columbus Grove to visit MK and BK. Their new home is beautiful, but the highlight was spending time with their daughter, E. E loves M&M's, which she calls em-emies. She also enjoys "jumping" off the ottoman into your arms as you sit on the couch. The "jump" basically consists of her climbing up onto the ottoman, walking to the edge and bending her knees. Your job is to count to three and then lift her off of the ottoman onto your lap. (Disclaimer: No babies were harmed in this process).

We also discovered that it takes 5 adults less than 5 minutes to consume and entire package of Double Stuff Oreos.

We hit the road again and drove to Earlanger, KY for V's baptism. The ceremony was very nice and we learned that our job as Godparents mostly consists of picking up things that V drops (pacifier for Justin, booties for me). After the ceremony, everyone headed to KR's home for a BBQ. Despite the presence of two great-grandmothers and two grandmothers, we actually got to hold V quite a bit. I suppose there are some advantages to Godparent status (that, or everyone was in secret collusion to convince us to have one of our own). We got to feed her and she peed a little on JR. Good times for all ;) She's quite a sweet baby, and only cried when she was hungry. She has beautiful navy blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll keep that coloring.

9-4-06

We got up quite early to beat the traffic back into the city. It was nice to get home, but once I got everything unpacked and the laundry started, I crashed. I was glad to be back at home in my own bed. Not much else to report.

DAILY SUGGESTION

Check out some photos from our visit to MK & BK's at Mike's site. I hope to post some photos from our trip soon.
