Spidey

I saw this recent article about who would be a good replacement for Tobey McGuire if there is another installment of Spiderman. I think you're already aware of my theory that a great comic book movie requires an actor, as opposed to a star. So, I think that their choices are on the right track. I suppose of the five the suggest, I'd be most in favor of Ryan Gosling, although I think he looks too much like Christian Bale, who's great as the new Batman.

I'm not sure who I would pick if I was starting with a clean slate, but considering the McGuire's already done the first three, I think Topher Grace would have been a good selection, since he has a similar look and personality (not 100% sure if his acting is good enough). Unfortunately, he's appearing as a villain in Spiderman 3, so I don't think we'll see him in the red and blue suit anytime soon.

So who do you think should take over as Spidey? On a related note, who should have been cast as Superman in Superman Returns?

I think they should stop making Spiderman movies - I just have a bad feeling the next one would not be as good.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I'd much rather see the series go out after three excellent movies (I'm keeping my hopes up that the newest one will not disappoint). But I'm also jaded enough by the movie industry to believe that there will be more.
