The Serial Cereal Problem

JR requested that I blog about cereal today. The truth is that as we get closer and closer becoming parents (no bun in the oven, yet!) we are becoming cognizent of the ways in which our behavior will impact the development of the little person.

One of those behaviors involves the way that we eat cereal. JR and I both previously ate cereal in the normal manner. However, things have changed and I commented to JR recently that our future child is going to copy the way that we eat cereal and then when he/she goes to a friend's house, he/she will look like a heathen.

The problem started because both JR and I have trouble judging the correct cereal to bowl size ratio. No, we don't spill cereal all over the counter, but we do tend to fill the bowl to the point that once milk is added, there is not much room to lever the spoon without creating a cereal avalanche.

So, this brings us to the point where JR and I have begun to eat our cereal with the right hand holding the spoon, per usual, and the left hand forming a protective dome over the bowl, to keep the cereal inside. If you can't imagine how this looks, picture Gollum from Lord of the Rings hovering over "his precious". It is not a pretty sight.
