JR's sister, AR, has been visiting us since Thurday of last week. It's been a lot of fun having her stay with us and she's managed to pack quite a bit of sightseeing and movie watching into her visit. Here's a recap:
Thursday: JR picks up AR from the airport. They head to the North & Clybourn area for an afternoon of shopping. AR attempts to acclimate to our frigid weather. We order oven fired pizza from Robey Pizza and settle in to watch the movie "Over the Hedge".
Friday: JR and AR visit the Art Museum and shop in the Loop and on Michigan Avenue. That evening, we go to our friend HD's tree trimming party.
Saturday: We head to Chinatown for shopping and lunch at Moon Palace. JR and AR stop for more shopping on Michigan Avenue. We spend the evening watching more movies: "National Treasure" and "Brokeback Mountain".
Sunday: AR and I meet my friend MH for lunch at Costello's (the best sandwiches in Chicago - even better than Potbelly's) and see the movie "The Holiday". I make macaroni and cheese for dinner and we break open a can of cranberry sauce leftover from Thanksgiving. We manage to squeeze in a showing of the "Da Vinci Code" before bed.
Monday: AR spends the day shopping on her own, since JR headed back to work. She manages to find two different types of popcorn and see the big tree in the Daley plaza. No trip to Chicago is complete without deep dish pizza, so we order Giordano's for dinner. (Can you tell that it's close to lunch time? I keep mentioning food...) JR proves again that he's a great husband and goes to Trader Joe's to get me chocolate gelato. We have fun watching "The Incredibles".
Tuesday: AR heads to the Museum of Science and Industry. In the evening, we meet her for an upscale Italian dinner at Trattoria No. 10. They even had proscioutto and melon - our favorite treat in Italy. Afterwards, we saw the musical Wicked, which was still delightful to me, even on its third viewing.
Wednesday (today): If I'm not mistaken, AR plans to visit some art galleries and finish up her shopping. Tonight, we pack in preparation for tomorrow's drive to Ohio. If there's time, we plan to squeeze in another movie :)
