Thanksgiving Weekend

I must say that I had a truly wonderful Thanksgiving. It really meant a lot to me that LP and JP made the trip and I had a great time sharing all of our crazy traditions with them. I'm not sure that it's possible for me to share all of the good stories, but I'll try to give a highlight of the weekend.

WEDNESDAY

I got out of work early and JR didn't have class in the afternoon, so we too advantage of the time to get some last minute errands done. First stop was Baker's Square to pick up the pies. JR tried to talk me into getting the French Silk pie again, but I held firm. (Later found out that French Silk is JP's favorite, and I probably should have gotten that one, too.)

We also took the car to get it's emissions test done. It passed. Yea, car! Then we stopped at the UPS Store to pick up the pile of packages that were waiting for us as a result of our previous online shopping.

THURSDAY

Here's JR sporting a faux hawk before he left for the airport to pick up LP and JP. Don't worry, GR and JR, he brushed it out before he left the house.

In addition to our plethora of pies, the Thanksgiving meal included 17.5 pounds of turkey, corn souffle (pronounced SUE-FULL), biscuits, gravy and cranberry sauce (canned, of course). You will notice the lack of real vegetables. That's how we like it.

The day consisted of rotating shifts of eating and looking at ads. When challenged, JR made a map of 49 of the 50 states from memory. Sorry, Delaware.

FRIDAY

Friday consisted of Black Friday shopping, which I will detail in a separate blog entry.

SATURDAY

JR had to hit the books in preparation for his upcoming finals, so JP, LP and I headed to the Field Museum to see Tut. It was an extensive an interesting exhibit. Afterwards, we perused the museum and took shots of our Uglydolls in various locations. I hope to have more photos soon, but in the meantime, here are Grunt and Wedge in Africa.

And here is a photo of the stained glass window in the Hall of Gems exhibit.

This is a banner for the Tut exhibit. Unfortunately, we were not able to take photos inside the exhibit, so this will have to suffice.

SUNDAY

We had a wonderful brunch at Victory's Banner on Roscoe Street. Then, JP, LP and I poked our heads into some of the overpriced boutiques and the super junky Village Thrift.
Before we knew it, it was time to take them to the airport. I was sad to see them go.
