10-05-06 After work, I headed to the airport for my flight to Columbus. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed 1 1/2 hours. Considering that I arrived at the airport at 5:30, I spent a very long five hours at the airport. That's right, I could almost have driven to Columbus in that amount of time.
10-06-06 Thank goodness for The Mommy! Not only did she make the Mexican casserole for me to take for dinner in Hocking Hills, she also helped me run around gathering last minute items and prepared a wonderfully tasty fruit salad.
KL picked me up and after a brief stop to pick up AS (who I can now report has a bun in the oven) we got on the road to Hocking Hills. We were the first to arrive at the cabin, which was almost perfect. We had to agree with the statements in the comment book that it could have used mirrors in the bedrooms and more chairs for the table, but those are pretty small complaints.
The other gals arrived and we had dinner and spent the evening gabbing. Some of the gals tested out the hot tub, which they enjoyed.
10-07-06 We took a break from chatting and eating (ha!) to go hiking at Old Man's Cave. The weather was perfect and the scenery was amazing. There were quite a few people there, but it was still peaceful to be so surrounded by nature.
We passed another evening talking. Seven women rarely run out of something to gab about.
10-08-06 AS turns 30!
It was time to head our separate ways. KL was driving directly to Cinci, so AS and I hitched a ride with JS and HJ. Once in Gahanna, we picked up my mom and headed to lunch at Brio (nope, we still weren't done talking or eating).
Overall, I would rate the reunion a great success!
Mom dropped me off at the airport and we lost track of time talking. I got stopped in security (liquid lipstick) but fortunately, I knew the TSA agent on duty and got through. I barely made it onto the plane and had to grab a middle seat near the back. It turned out that fortune was smiling on me. I spent the entire plane flight talking to the man next to me, Bruce. Even though he has about 20+ years on me in age, it turned out that we were simpatico and had a great time talking about everything from traveling, restaurants, books, television and movies.
Before I left, JR had been talking about a surprise that he was preparing for my return. I was pretty eager to find out what it was, but I never could have guessed what he had in store. JR spent the weekend turning our spare room (formerly home to everything that doesn't have another place to be) into an exercise room! He relocated the bookshelves and moved our small tv and dvd player into the room. He also bought me some new workout videos and some pilates equipment. I'm so excited! Not only does the room look much better than it did before, I finally have a feasible way to exercise once the cold comes, without having to rearrange the entire living room. He's officially the best husband ever!
10-09-06 Columbus Day! I got to sleep in since work was closed. I took advantage of my new workout room and headed to the grocery store to stock up our woefully neglected fridge and cabinets.
MH & CN stopped by for dinner. I served the Minestrone soup and ravioli that AS & GS made for me a few weeks ago, and they were a big hit. I also served some (tater) tots in anticipation of our evening's cinematic pleasure: Napoleon Dynamite.
We had a great time catching up with them and taking advantage of our new dining room table.
