10-2-06

It's kind of hard to believe that it's October. I shouldn't be surprised since time seems to rush by faster and faster every year. I remember when I was little, a week seemed like an eternity. And Christmas? It took a decade to arrive.

These days, I wake up and realize that I've been living in Chicago for three years! JR and I will celebrate our third anniversary soon. Where has all of that time gone? Sure, I've spent a good portion camped out on the couch with the tv on, or with a book glued to my nose, but overall I'm pretty proud of the fact that we've seen and done a lot of things in the city since we've been here.

We've been pretty fortunate to have friends and family visit regularly (or as regularly as a law student's schedule permits) so we've been to most of the major museums and tourist attractions. I like to try new things, so we try to make it a habit of trying new restaurants in addition to our regular favorites.

Friday night, we headed to Wicker Park to catch the Veruca Salt concert and had a wonderful dinner at Francesca's Forno. Wicker Park is an edgier neighborhood than the one's that we've lived in, but there's a certain vibrancy to the area that makes me want to go back and spend some more time there. We found a used record shop, which seem to be a dying breed these days. Belmont Avenue used to be full of them, but almost, if not all, have closed.

I'm not going to go into much detail, but I will say that the show was great. Like the recent show at the Metro, it is obvious that Louise is back in form, enjoying playing again (even Nina's songs) and is the consummate rock princess.
