So, my latest thing is paperbackswap.com. I heard about this from MK. The way it works is that you post a list of books (hard or paperback) that you are willing to trade. When someone request a book on your list, you mail it out (yes, you pay for shipping). Once the book is received, you get a credit. Each credit allows you to request a book from another user (this time, the other guy pays for the shipping).
Last night, I listed 18 books that I had recently purged from my bookshelves. You get a bonus 3 credits once you list 9 books. By this morning, I had requests for 5 of my books. I happily packaged and mailed them out today. You can actually print out a wrapper from the website, although most of my books were larger paperbacks, so I put them into 9 x 12 envelopes (thanks Dad and RP for that mailing/envelope kit you gave me for Christmas several years back - those envelopes are still coming in handy!)
Usually, when I hear about a book I'm interested in, I add it to my Amazon wishlist. So, today I searched to see if any were available at paperbackswap.com. Unfortunately, I only found one of the books I wanted, but the site does have a wishlist feature. Once someone posts a book that's on my wishlist, I will be notified that it's available and asked to confirm I still want it. I think that the site queues the requests for each book by the date they are added to various user's wishlists.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how this works out. I enjoy being and "early adopter" and testing out new things. If check out paperbackswap.com and sign up, be sure to mention that I referred you (use my email address). I get an extra credit as soon as you post 9 books.
Happy Weekend!
