I have to say, this was a particularly nice and relaxing weekend. On Friday, JR and I met George, Judy and April at Oktoberfest for some good food and music.
On Saturday, Mom came over for lunch and to help me sort through the myriad of baby clothes that I've acquired through garage sales. We sorted everything by size and found that there were not nearly enough plastic bins to hold them all. Unfortunately, Home Depot seems to no longer be carrying the ones that match what I already have, so I may have to switch, which will cause some stacking issues.
Between garage sales and generous loaning from family and friends, were getting to be pretty well stocked with baby gear. JR is pretty anxious for the baby to arrive, but I'm enjoying this phase of the pregnancy. I'm feeling pretty comfortable and I like the attention that I receive (except from our company receptionist, who freaks anytime she sees me with a Starbucks cup, even though I've assured her many times I only drink hot chocolate).
Saturday evening, JR and I went to the discount theater to see Ocean's 13, which I enjoyed. We followed that up with some ice cream from Dairy Queen, which I enjoyed even more :)
Today, we had breakfast at Scrambler Marie's, which was quite tasty. We are quite torn as to whether we like it better than First Watch or not. Afterwards, we got a quick oil change and headed to Target to look for new pj's. I didn't find any good pj's, but I did finally acquire the chartruse sweater that their ads have been taunting me with for several weeks. Overall, that made it a good Target week, since earlier I snagged the red courderoy jacket I saw in a poster at the Polaris location but couldn't find. Thus ended my frustration with Target for showing posters of clothing that isn't available for purchase.
We also got a new nonstick pan, since our trip to Scrambler Marie's was a result of a botched attempt to make pancakes at home. A few years ago, we switched to stainless steel pots and pans, which we can conveniently put in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, some things are just much easier to make in a nonstick pan, so we agreed to invest in one nice nonstick pan.
After lounging at home for awhile, we decided to hit the road again and drove over to Grandview Heights to check out the resale shop, Trader Tots. I found a nightgown designed especially to make night feedings easy. It came with a matching baby nightgown all for the low price of $4.20. Take that, Target. We also picked up a couple of books, including Lyle, Lyle Crockadile. JR charmed me completely by saying "That's a good book."
Then, we had a bite at the Red Door Tavern, which I haven't been to since I lived in Grandview about eight years ago. The Twisted Pelican is still a great sandwich. We tried to make it out to Dublin to Once Upon a Child, but they've ended their extended back-to-school hours and were closed.
Now we're back at home and JR is watching football and I'm finishing up this blog post. Hope that all is well in your world.
