Just One Thing

I realized that with my post yesterday, I doubled my posting for 2009, so I figured that I would go for triple!

This morning as I was getting dressed, I was faced with the difficult task to selecting an outfit that would be appropriate to wear to a meeting I'm attending after work. The typical attire is business casual, which is an area that I'm a bit lacking in on the wardrobe spectrum. I have plenty of cold weather business casual clothes that I wear during tax season, but I've been scraping by to get through the summer.

Finally, I decided on some off-white denim capris and an aqua silk blouse. This seemed like a great choice until I started applying sunscreen to E this morning. I saw his little hands reaching for the ruffles on my shirt and said "Don't touch me!" (Sidenote: E always has to have a little sunscreen {suncream} on his hands while I'm applying it on him.) So the crisis seemed averted, until I arrived at work and realized that I did not take the sunscreen into consideration when I carried him into daycare. So, there I am with large greasy spots that cannot be cleaned at work.

So, after lunch today I went out in search of a top. Sure, I could have gone home, but there's no fun in that. First I stopped at Steinmart, where I didn't find a top. However, I found some nice black capris. So, I bought those and headed to Kohls, where I located a top and some shoes (the ones I wore to work were brown and would not look good with the black capris). Then, I decided that I really should have painted my toenails, so I stopped at CVS for some polish.

That is how a simple encounter with some sunscreen resulted in me being out of the office for over and hour and purchasing an entire outfit. I'm sure all of my frugal friends are rolling their eyes. Maybe if I had E's sense of fashion I would be in better shape. After all, in his view, as long as he can wear a green shirt and green shorts, everything is good.
